This bestselling author was born in Dublin, but divides his time between his native city and the United States, where the Charlie Parker thrillers are set. His debut novel Every Dead Thing launched him swiftly to the top of the thriller suspense genre. Every Dead Thing, was met with critical acclaim; it was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel and went on to win the 2000 Shamus Award for Best First Private Eye Novel. Impressively, he is the first author outside of the US to have won this award. His work has been adapted for film and television including The New Daughter starring Kevin Costner. His first novel specifically for younger readers, The Gates, was published in 2009. Critics compared him to children’s authors, Eoin Colfer and Terry Pratchett, and recommended the book to both children and adults!
